Description
Schladming-Dachstein is a renowned ski area located in the Styria region of Austria, pretty famous for it's downhill.
The area is spread across 4 different mountains, Schladming sits in the middle, making it the best option to access the whole area.
Pichl and Gleiming sit on one side, Haus/ennstal on the other. This central belt is a total of 123km of connected slopes - this is surrounded by a lot of other much smaller ski areas that add the other 110km.
The majority of the area is intermediate - centric, with tree lined pistes in the majority. Rohrmoos is a plateau where the beginners ski area is, so get yourself a good location if you have some in your group.
It is relevant to note that the altitude at this resort is very low - maxing out at 2000m, meaning you should monitor snow conditions carefully.
The town of Schladming itself offers a mix of modern amenities and a cozy, alpine atmosphere, with traditional Austrian architecture as any good Medieval town has.
One of the highlights of Schladming-Dachstein is the après-ski scene. The resort offers a vibrant and lively atmosphere after a day on the slopes, especially in the car free centre of Schladming. Skiers can enjoy a range of bars, restaurants, and cafes where they can relax and socialize. The popular Planai-Hochwurzen area is particularly known for its après-ski options, with lively bars and outdoor terraces where skiers can unwind and enjoy live music.
