Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis

Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is a renowned ski resort located in the Austrian Alps, specifically in the Tyrol region. This ski area is known for its extensive slopes, modern facilities, and family-friendly atmosphere. 

However, this is also one of the BEST areas for advanced on-piste skiing and easily accessable off piste.  It's actually Vic (the authors) favourite ski area in Europe (so far). No other resort has kept me interested for so long on-piste.

Serfaus, Fiss, and Ladis were originally traditional farming villages but have been transformed into a ski paradise while preserving their Tyrolean heritage.  The architecture mainly reflects the traditional Austrian alpine style, with pitched chalet roofs, painted window frescos and plastered exteriors. 

Serfaus sits at one end, almost car free due to a large parking area before the only alpine underground service! Takes you up to the resort. There's 4 stops depending on where your accomodation is relative to the main gondolas. This resort sits at the base of a towering bowl that has the best connections to the advanced terrain that the area has to offer. 

There are efficient lift systems and gondolas that connect the villages and provide quick access to the various ski areas. 

Fiss sits in the middle of the three, its suitable for groups who want a bit of everything, and Ladis sits the lowest of them all - connected to Fiss by a Gondola, from which you then change to go up into the ski area. 

The Fiss-Ladis connection area is host to a huge beginners learning zone, from which you can ski down to Ladis at the end of the day, either locations are therefore great for groups with a lot of beginners. If you stay in the old-town part of Fiss (to the "right") as you look at a piste map, not only will you be surrounded by charming old farm buildings, but you can walk up the hill a short way, or even get accomodation right at the foot of the beginners hill, meaning you get a short button lift up to the meeting point or to ski, instead of walk, to the main gondolas. 

All 3 resorts in the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis area are particularly suitable for families. The resort has a strong focus on providing family-friendly amenities and activities, including dedicated children's areas, ski schools, and childcare services. 

This however, should not put all adult groups off - the advanced terrain and challenging red slopes make for a very enjoyable area to explore.
