Zillertal Valley (SuperSki Pass)

The Zillertal SuperSki Pass offers access to an extensive ski area located in the stunning Zillertal Valley of Austria. 

The entire valley has a railway system, making it easy to travel between sectors - there's 4 key areas to ski. 

First up is Hochzillertal-Hochfügen, this ski area is known for its excellent snow conditions and modern infrastructure. 

Purpose-built as a ski resort, Hochzillertal-Hochfügen is accessed from Kaltenbach and Hochfügen; Kaltenbach is the main settlement. There's very little in terms of town to walk around, as it's been purpose developed as a liftstation, around which hotels and self catering has been built. A small collection of bars are built around the return run and gondola station, enough to satisfy the need for the end of the day drink, but nothing to explore in the evenings. 

It's well suited to self catering, with a large supermarket right in the town. We highly recommend the Hotel Post - it's recent refurbishment is incredibly well done, with fantastic in and outdoor heated pools to enjoy in winter (exit through the sliding doors when already in the pool to the crisp mountain views) and the food standards are immaculate. 

For a great value stay, you can stay up the road in Aschau (return run is a black run for the end of the day) and get a short valley train to ski each day, the gondola is only a 5min walk from the station in Kaltenbach. Next up is the Zillertal arena in Zell am Ziller, this linear ski area connects to an adjacent valley.

Mayrhofen is where the valley railway ends. 

Famous as a lively town, there's plenty of options for Après ski, with numerous bars, restaurants, and clubs catering to the needs of skiers and snowboarders. 

The resort also hosts the famous Snowbombing music festival, attracting partygoers from around the world and Alpitude, comedy festival on snow. 

Hintertux Glacier is located right at the end of the valley, at an altitude of 3,250 meters, it is one of Europe's few year-round ski areas, making it ideal for those seeking winter sports even in the summer months. 

The resort offers breathtaking views and a wide range of slopes suitable for all skill levels. While Hintertux itself is a small village, it provides easy access to the glacier via a modern lift system. The après ski scene here is more relaxed compared to Mayrhofen, mainly small bars and resturants or hotels. 

Overall, the Zillertal SuperSki Pass provides a diverse range of ski resorts to suit different preferences and skill levels. 

The interconnected nature of the ski area allows for seamless exploration and adventure, with ski buses and the valley railway available to transport visitors between resorts.
