Zillertal Arena

Zillertal Arena is a popular ski area located in the Zillertal Valley, Austria, just below Mayrhofen in the valley.

 The history of Zillertal Arena dates back to the early 2000s when it was established as an interconnected area.

 It comprises several towns and villages, including Zell am Ziller, Gerlos, Königsleiten, and Hochkrimml, which offer a mix of authentic charm and modern infrastructure. 

This is a Linear ski area, travel from end to end in a day, with slopes stretched across 4 peaks and concentrated at either end. The area stretches down the valley, so for easy access to all the ski domaine on a daily basis, its most efficient to stay in a central position around Gerlos or Konigsleiten. These however, cannot be accessed by rail. 

Which resorts are for you? 

Zell am Ziller: 

Located at the entrance of the Zillertal Arena, Zell am Ziller is a charming resort with a traditional Austrian ambiance. It offers a range of accommodations, restaurants, and shops, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere and is one of the bigger towns.

The town and train station are close to the river running through the valley, and extend out towards the base of the mountain, where the 2 access Gondola are on the outskirts of town. Regular ski bus lines operate around the town and down the valley. 

The other towns on the Zillertal Arena lay in a perpendicular valley, splintered off from the Zillertal. 

Gerlos: 

Situated in the middle of the Zillertal Arena, Gerlos is a popular and vibrant resort known for its lively après-ski scene. It offers a wide range of accommodations, from hotels to chalets, and has numerous restaurants, bars, and clubs. Gerlos is renowned for its lively nightlife and attracts a younger crowd seeking a vibrant atmosphere. It also provides excellent skiing and snowboarding opportunities, with a variety of slopes catering to different skill levels. 

Königsleiten: 

Perched at an altitude of 1,600 meters, Königsleiten is a picturesque mountain village offering stunning alpine views. It is a quieter and more relaxed resort compared to Zell am Ziller and Gerlos. 

Königsleiten is well-suited for families and those seeking a tranquil setting. It provides easy access to the ski slopes and has a range of accommodations, restaurants, and shops. The resort also offers cross-country skiing and winter hiking trails. 

Hochkrimml: Located at the highest point of the Zillertal Arena, Hochkrimml is a small and secluded resort that offers a peaceful and serene mountain experience. 

It is known for its excellent snow conditions and offers ski-in/ski-out accommodations. Hochkrimml is an ideal destination for winter sports enthusiasts, with access to a variety of ski slopes and snow parks. The resort also offers cross-country skiing trails and winter hiking opportunities
