La Forêt Blanche

La Forêt Blanche is a popular ski area located in the French Alps. With a vast ski domain and picturesque surroundings, it offers a memorable skiing experience for visitors of all skill levels. La Forêt Blanche is a purpose-built ski resort, meaning that it was specifically developed to cater to the needs of winter sports enthusiasts. It is comprised of two main villages, Risoul and Vars, both of which offer a range of amenities and accommodations for visitors. It's slopes sit mainly above 1800, which is great for snow conditions across the season. 

Vars is a collection of villages situated at different altitudes. It offers a more traditional and authentic alpine experience. The architecture in Vars reflects a blend of classic chalet-style buildings and newer constructions. The village is known for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Vars is divided into 2 main areas: Sainte-Marie and Les Claux. It provides a range of accommodations, from rustic chalets to modern hotels. The après-ski scene in Vars is relatively relaxed, with a handful of bars and restaurants offering a cozy ambiance. The villages are well-connected to the La Forêt Blanche ski area, with multiple chairlifts and gondolas providing access to the extensive slopes from both areas, however beginners should consider staying in Les Claux sector, as it's where the beginners slopes are set. 

Risoul, on the other hand, is a purpose-built resort that offers a more contemporary skiing experience. The architecture in Risoul consists mainly of large apartment complexes and modern buildings. It has a vibrant and lively atmosphere, making it popular among younger skiers and snowboarders. The après-ski scene in Risoul is dynamic, with a variety of bars, clubs, and restaurants that cater to a bustling crowd. The village offers a range of accommodations, including hotels and self-catering apartments. Beginners have a range of starter slopes at resort level.
