Description
Silvretta Arena is a renowned ski area located in the Austrian Alps, straddling the border between Austria and Switzerland; Ischgl on the Austrian side and Samnaun on the Swiss side.
The resort's history dates back several centuries, with the region once being a traditional mountain village. Over time, it has evolved into a purpose-built ski resort, attracting visitors from around the world.
Despite its modern development, Silvretta Arena has managed to retain a charming alpine atmosphere, blending the old and the new seamlessly.
It's widely considered to be a better resort for more advanced skiers, with few accomodating areas of beginners and the return runs to Ischgl or Samnaun all red or black.
Ischgl is known as the "Ibiza of the Alps" for its lively après ski scene. After a day on the slopes, there are countless bars and clubs to choose from, all offering a variety of music and atmospheres.
Some of the most popular après ski bars in Ischgl include:
Kuhstall: This is a legendary après ski bar with a lively atmosphere. It is known for its traditional Austrian music and its huge mugs of beer.
Trofana Alm: This is a large après ski bar with a great view of the slopes. It is known for its live music and its wide variety of drinks.
Madlein: This is a more sophisticated après ski bar with a stylish interior. It is known for its cocktails and its DJs.
Pacha: This is a world-famous nightclub that has a branch in Ischgl. It is known for its house music and its wild parties.
If you are looking for a more relaxed après ski experience, there are also a number of quieter bars and restaurants in Ischgl. These offer a more traditional Alpine atmosphere and a wider range of food options.
Samnaun is a smaller resort than Ischgl, and it has a more relaxed atmosphere. The après ski scene in Samnaun is still lively, but it is not as wild as the scene in Ischgl. Samnaun is also a duty-free zone, which means that alcohol is cheaper there than in Ischgl!
The smaller size comes with more limited variety of accomodation, and it's position means that you really need a car to get to it conveniently.
