Use our comparison engine or search bar Why only over 100km? 100km is a reasonable amount of km for the average intermediate skier to enjoy for at least a long weekend. Everyone has their own preferences on the amount of variety they nee d , size of ski area is ranked #1 factor in choosing a resort . This site is built for people travelling to take a ski holiday, not those visiting local hills, so we made the executive decision to cap the list at 100km to make sure they're decent size (a nd reduce choice paralysis) There's still over 14 0 resorts here to choose from. There's no one out there doing this Researching any solo ski options is incredibly time consuming and often frustrating, with large companies paying lip-service to solo travel on one page of a website, but providing no easily navigable options to look at. Ski Chalets are the ultimate in luxury, social experience but sole occupancy is the default for all the major sites, this luxury is most accessible for those with the luck and patience to organise a large group, especially with large tour operators dropping their shared catered chalets post-pandemic. ​ That's without even considering the first step where you tried and failed to find people to plan with. So that's 2 Barriers to getting on the slopes: People + Planning The industry is relying on the low hanging fruit to support itself and neglecting the passionate individuals who want to participate too. ​ There's no other place that aggregates holidays and instructional trips suitable for individuals to join. ​ There's no well designed place for Chalets to open up their bookings to a room by room or person by person basis and promote to a receptive audience. Membership Inclusion Policy SnowClans is for everyone, and we mean absolutely everyone, on one condition: That you are not a d*ck to others, for any reason. ​ Why do we feel the need to emphasize this? ​ There are common preconceived ideas about the kind of people that go on ski holidays, including but not limited to wealthy, able bodied, white and more often than not, men. This can make it intimidating for those who don't think they 'fit in' to put themselves out there with a group of other solos. On this basis we want to stress that SnowClans is a community for everyone . Our aim is to acknowledge that there's a lot of people who sit outside the stereotype, as well as fitting in it, and provide a safe space for them to come together. ​ In order to achieve this all our associates must embody it, any evidence that a member or an advertiser does not will mean immediate removal from the site. This is a strictly no-discrimination community. ​ We do not care about our members gender, sexuality, race, physical or mental ability or condition, religion or politics and neither should you. They hold no relevance to a ski holiday, and as they have no impact on your life, they are none of your concern. When to ski in Europe Pick the perfect time for your needs With aprox 20 weeks available to ski, you need to know when is best for you Map When to go skiing in Europe December January Feb March April May X Mas / NYE Half term 6th Jan - 10th Feb 24th Feb - 30th March Easter Cheapest week 2nd - 23rd 13th + Cusp Weeks The weeks at the start and end of the season are much more unpredictable in terms of snow conditions. With unpredictability comes cheaper prices in your average resort. If you're booking in advance, the best option is to book somewhere with high altitude but these snowsure resorts come with a higher price tag. If you hold your nerve, perhaps booking flights or trains only, you can then book accomodation and transfers to the best conditions. Holidays School holidays are always almost double the price of any other time of year, and they're the busiest - if you don't have to go, don't go. Even ski passes are more expensive. ​ Note: European countries overlap holiday periods in Feb & April but not perfectly, we've highlighted peak weeks, but there may be some spill over either side. ​ However, we must say spending Christmas and NYE in the snow is one of the best experiences ever. when Solo ski holidays can allow you greater flexibility.
